AS GEOGRAPHY - COASTAL MANAGEMENT AND REBRANDING REVISION

Coastal Management

As luck would have it, the Birling Gap in Sussex featured in the press this weekend, where erosion of the chalk cliffs is reaching rates of .75m per year.

Carry out some research into erosion at Birling Gap, with a focus on 3 main elements:

1. Coastal erosion - the processes and why the rate of erosion os so rapid
2. The "players" - who has an interest?
3. Management Strategies - what is being done, is planned, or could be done?

Produce a detailed fact sheet, with location map and some current images.

Then...complete the same exercise for a stretch of coastline we have visited as part of our fieldwork.

What is re-branding?
Who are the "players"?
What are the expected outcomes of rebranding?
 
Learn at least two case studies, plus our own fieldwork investigation and outcomes.
